July Spotlight: Megaweapon!

July 1, 2016

'Megaweapon is an indie-rock band from Long Island, NY featuring Michi Turk on vocals/keytar, Andy Stieglitz on guitar/vocals, Mike McCarthy on drums, and Erik “Punkrich” on vocals/bass. Megaweapon has come on to the Long Island independent music scene full force. Named for a war vehicle from a mediocre action film, the band is fun and hardly mediocre. With attitude, simultaneous warmth, and chutzpah, the band is best known on Long Island for a bitchin' live performance, three-part harmonies, and keytar.

When they are not playing DIY shows in church basements, parking lots,  and clubs across New York City and Long Island such as Studio at Webster Hall or 89 North, they are writing songs that are about things that should be saved for a nice therapist, such as prescription drug use or abuse. On the other hand, they are also writing songs of strength and love for the underdogs.

Since releasing "the Shakes," in July, they have played with bands such as I Fight Dragons, Candy Hearts, and Slingshot Dakota and have been regularly played on WUSB Stony Brook 90.1 They have also performed with Creed Bratton from NBC’s The Office. They have begun writing a full length album and are hitting the road for a Northwest Tour this month!'
